Guwahati: A road accident occurred on a national highway near Balughat in Guwahati, Guwahati, claiming the life of a young doctor and leaving another individual critically injured.

The incident involved a truck and a scooter, with the deceased identified as Amlan Hazarika, a medical professional, and the injured as Anirudh De Sarkar, an advocate.

According to reports, the two vehicles were travelling from Jalukbari towards Khanapara when the scooter, bearing the registration number AS01EB6441, attempted to overtake the truck (BR24GD9491). Unfortunately, the scooter skidded and fell under the truck's wheels, resulting in the fatal accident.

The two victims had set out to enjoy a plate of biryani when the tragic incident occurred. Hazarika's life was cut short as he fell under the wheels of the truck, while De Sarkar is currently hospitalised in critical condition.

The deceased's body has been sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for a post-mortem examination.
