Asaduddin Owaisi's Jai Palestine Remark Sparks Controversy: AIMIM Chief Remains Defiant

JUNE 26, 2024: In a dramatic turn of events during the 18th session of the Lok Sabha, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi stood firm on his controversial Jai Palestine remark. This statement, made during his oath-taking ceremony, has stirred significant debate and calls for his removal.

On Tuesday, while being sworn in as an MP for the fifth time, Owaisi ended his oath with the words, "Jai Bhim, Jai Meem, Jai Telangana, Jai Palestine." This addition to the traditional oath has drawn sharp reactions, with many demanding an apology and some calling for his removal from the Lok Sabha.

In response to the backlash, Owaisi remained unyielding. On Wednesday, he made it clear that he was not intimidated by the threats and criticisms. "Let them do whatever they want. I also know a little bit about the Constitution. These empty threats will not work on me," Owaisi said, as reported by ANI.

Doubling down on his stance, Owaisi took to his official ‘X’ handle on Tuesday to reaffirm his commitment to representing marginalised communities in India. Sworn in as a member of Lok Sabha for the fifth time.He posted, he will continue to raise issues of india's marginalized with sincerity.

The remark has sparked a broader conversation about the intersection of domestic politics and international solidarity within the Indian political landscape. Owaisi's invocation of "Jai Palestine" highlights his long-standing support for the Palestinian cause, a position that resonates with many of his supporters but has also drawn criticism from his opponents.

As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how this incident will impact Owaisi's political standing and the broader discourse on international solidarity within Indian politics.
