May 18, 2023: The Dibrugarh Court on Thursday sentenced life Imprisonment to Kiru Mech who has been convicted in the 2014 Female Doctor Sarita Toshniwal Murder Case that occurred at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH).

Sarita Toshniwal, a medical student at AMCH, was brutally murdered by a ward boy Kiru Mech and a second-year PG student identified as Deepmoni Saikia inside the medical premises on May 10, 2014.

Earlier a day, Dibrugarh Court pronounced the verdict that Deepmoni Saikia had been acquitted of all the murder charges. The verdict was pronounced almost after 9 years.
