BCCI Confirms India's Jersey Will Feature Pakistan's Imprint for Champions Trophy 2025

January 22, 2025: The Indian cricket team’s jerseys for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 will feature the official logo with host nation Pakistan's imprint, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Wednesday. This announcement comes in response to rumors suggesting that the BCCI sought to remove Pakistan’s name from the logo.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia addressed the media, emphasizing that the Indian cricket team will follow the guidelines set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the tournament. Saikia also made it clear that the BCCI has no intention of violating any of the ICC's directives, including those related to the jersey logo.

"There was never any intention to violate any such guidelines. Whatever was going on in the media, I have seen it. I don't know where they got that information from. But the BCCI has no reason to violate or ignore any of the guidelines. BCCI will follow the dress code and the logo for the Champions Trophy 2025 as formulated by the ICC," Saikia said.

The rumors had arisen after speculations that India, who will not be traveling to Pakistan for the tournament, might object to the inclusion of Pakistan’s name on the Champions Trophy logo. However, Saikia reassured that India will adhere to the rules, noting that even when the 2021 T20 World Cup was hosted by the UAE, Pakistan's jerseys included India's name as the host country.

The Champions Trophy will begin on February 19, with Pakistan facing New Zealand. India’s first match is scheduled for February 20 against Bangladesh, followed by their highly anticipated encounter with Pakistan on February 23. All of India's group-stage matches will be played in Dubai, with the possibility of additional matches in the semi-finals or final, should they qualify.

Saikia concluded by reiterating that the BCCI remains committed to following ICC's protocols for the tournament, ensuring there are no violations concerning team jerseys and logos.
