June 26, 2021: BJP National President J P Nadda on Saturday announced the appointment of Sharda Devi as Manipur’s party President.  She will succeed Saikhom Tikendra Singh, who succumbed to COVID-19 last month.



The newly elected state president who hails from Bhramapur Aribam Leikai, Imphal East, served as a councillor of Imphal Municipal Council in 1995 on a BJP ticket.



Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh congratulated Devi and said that under her able leadership the party will be able to achieve greater heights and the party will also be able to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the people of Manipur.





The BJP also announced the appointment of 2-time Rangia MLA Bhabesh Kalita as the President of Assam BJP.



Kalita, an Advocate by profession will replace Ranjeet Kumar Dass who is the Minister for Panchayat & Rural Development, Public Health Engineering, Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister in the Himanta Biswa Sarma led-Cabinet.
