December 1, 2023: An amount of Rs. 18.85 crore was looted from Punjab National Bank (PNB) in Manipur’s Ukhrul on Thursday evening. The bank is situated in Viewland-I.

As per sources, the robbery took place at around 5.30 PM by at least 10 unidentified masked men. The miscreants were carrying some sophisticated sharp weapons along with them. The incident occurred with alarming precision, catching both bank personnel and security forces off guard.

Reportedly, around eight personnel from the 6th Manipur Rifles were present at the bank, presumably for security measures. But the assailants managed to overpower the security detail and execute the robbery.

However, no arrest has been made so far and this is for the first time such bank heist incident has happened in Ukhrul town.
