July 31, 2021: A film based on Olympic silver medalist Mirabai Chanu’s life and sporting career will be produced by Manipur’s Seuti Films Productions. 

Mirabai said that she is happy that a film based on her life and work will be produced to inspire the youths, especially the upcoming sportspersons.

She further added that her struggle has borne fruits. Manaobi MM, Chairman of Seuti Films said it will be a realistic film and a new face will be trained to play the role of Mirabai. The entire life of Mirabai, beginning from her early days in the village to her journey to the Olympics will be shown in the film.

An agreement was signed between Mirabai, her father, Kirti and the film group at the residence of Mirabai, Nongpok Kakching here today.

The film will be directed by OC Meira, screenplay and dialogue will be written by Manaobi and produced by RK Nalini. The film will be dubbed in English and other major Indian languages.

Mirabai had won the silver medal for weightlifting in Tokyo Olympics 2020.
