January 17, 2024: Tension erupted in Manipur after fresh violence took place in the border town of Moreh in the Tengnoupal district on Wednesday morning.



As per sources, a commando identified as W Somorjit has been killed as the security forces exchanged fire with suspected Kuki militants.



According to reports, the suspected Kuki militants threw bombs and fired at a security post near SBI Moreh. The gunfight lasted for over an hour.



The fresh violence comes amid massive protests by Kuki groups after police arrested two tribals for involvement in the killing of a police officer.
