Three militants killed in two separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir

August 29, 2024: Three militants were killed by security forces in two separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara in the intervening night of August 28 and 29, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps said in a post on X.

In Machhal, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police based on intelligence inputs on likely infiltration bid, the Chinar Corps said. “Suspicious movement was observed in bad weather and was engaged with effective firing by own troops; two terrorists are likely to have been neutralized,” it added.

In a similar operation in Tangdhar, “One terrorist is likely to have been neutralized,” the Chinar Corps said. The operation is underway in both the areas.

Meanwhile, security forces exchanged fire with militants in the Lathi area under the Budhal police station’s jurisdiction in the border Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Thursday.
