NOVEMBER 9, 2024 - This morning, three coaches of the Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express derailed near Howrah, West Bengal, causing disruption on the busy route. The incident occurred at Nalpur, approximately 40 kilometers from Kolkata. Fortunately, no casualties or major injuries have been reported.



According to South Eastern Railway officials, the derailment took place at 5:31 AM as the train was shifting from the middle to the outer tracks. A parcel van and two coaches were affected during the derailment.



Relief trains and medical assistance have arrived from Santragachhi and Kharagpur, and buses have been arranged to transport stranded passengers to their destinations, officials confirmed.



Railway authorities are currently investigating the cause of the derailment, while efforts are underway to restore normal services on the affected section of the Kharagpur Division.
