February 27, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced the names of the four astronauts that will fly to low-Earth orbit as part of the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Gaganyaan mission.

The four astronauts are -- Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair, Angad Prathap, Ajit Krishnan, and Shubhanshu Shukla. PM announced the names of the astronauts while visiting the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

As per sources, the Gaganyaan Mission is the India's first human space flight program which aims to launch a three-member crew into a Low Earth Orbit and bring them back after three days.
