April 13, 2024: A massive fire broke out in a slum area of Dum Dum city in Kolkata on Saturday morning. Police officials informed that several shanties in the area were gutted in the fire.

Reportedly, at least eight fire tenders reached the spot to douse the fire, as thick smoke and flames were seen billowing from the shanties.

As per sources, the shanties were made of plastic and other flammable materials. However, no casualties have been reported so far.
