Kolkata rape-murder case: Chief Justice debunked the theory of ‘151 gm semen’

August 22, 2024: On Thursday, the Supreme Court resumed hearing on the brutal rape and murder case. During the hearing, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud debunked the theory of ‘151 gm semen’ found inside the victim’s body and rebuked the counsel representing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), saying one should not rely on social media for court arguments.

In its status report to the Supreme Court, the CBI stated that the crime scene was altered and the victim’s family was misled about their daughter’s death by passing it off as a suicide.

The three judge bench led by the CJI, also comprises Justice JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra.
