March 26, 2024: A man identified as Darshan Babu who is fond of betting on cricket matches loses over Rs 1 crore in IPL Betting.

Darshan has been placing major bets on Indian Premier League (IPL) games since 2021. He often borrows money after losing a bet, or to place one when he is short on funds. Following this, his 23-year-old wife got tired and frustrated of the constant harassment by creditors. Therefore, Darshan’s wife decided to take a major step.

On March 18, Darshan’s wife identified as Ranjitha found dead in Karnataka's Chitradurga at her house. Darshan is an engineer by profession.

According to the family members, Darshan had allegedly borrowed over Rs 1.5 crore to place bets after his luck ran out and he lost all his money. Police officials informed that he managed to return Rs 1 crore but still has a pending loan of Rs 84 lakh.

During an investigation, police found a note where she detailed about the harassment they faced.
