Jabalpur Ordnance Factory Blast Injures 15; Worker Missing Amid Ongoing Rescue Efforts

October 22, 2024: A powerful explosion at the Central Security Institute Ordnance Factory in Khamaria, Jabalpur, has left at least 15 people injured, with two individuals in critical condition. The blast, which occurred during the bomb refilling process, also resulted in one worker reported missing, believed to be trapped under debris.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, with ambulances and fire brigades arriving promptly to aid in relief efforts. Two of the injured were transported to a nearby private hospital for urgent medical attention, as reports suggest they sustained serious injuries.

The explosion, attributed to a malfunction in a hydraulic system in the factory’s F-6 section, was so intense that it was heard up to five kilometers away, causing alarm among local residents. Witnesses described the impact as strong enough to feel like an earthquake, leading to partial structural collapse of the building.

While initial reports indicated that two of the injured might have succumbed to their injuries, the factory administration has yet to confirm any fatalities. The Ordnance Factory Khamaria is a significant site under the Department of Defence Production, primarily engaged in ammunition manufacturing.
