July 13, 2021: India’s first Covid-19 case, a woman medico from Kerala, has tested positive again. It is almost 18 months ago on January 30, 2020 that the woman had tested positive when she was back home in Thrissur for vacation.



According to Kerala health authorities she had gone for Covid tests as she was planning to leave for New Delhi. The RT-PCR result turned out to be positive. She is asymptomatic.

This could throw up new challenges for India which is already struggling to bring the Covid situation under control even as it stares at a third wave.



India reported 31,443 new cases in last 24 hours, which is the lowest daily rise in 118 days, the Health Ministry said. The country's active caseload currently stands at 4,31,315, which is the lowest in 109 days, and constitutes of 1.4 per cent of the total cases (nearly 3.09 crore). As many as 4,10,784 people have died so far.
