March 28, 2024: Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2024, India's richest woman Savitri Jindal has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, a day after resigning from the membership of the Congress.





Her decision of joining BJP comes days after her son Naveen Jindal, a former MP, quit the Congress party and joined BJP. The party has also announced that he will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Kurukshetra constituency in Haryana.

Savitri Jindal was born in Tinsukia, Assam in a Hindu Marwari family. She married Om Prakash Jindal in the 1970s, who had founded the Jindal Group, a steel and power conglomerate.



Jindal had joined politics after the death of her husband who died in a helicopter crash in 2005. She was a Minister in the Haryana Government and a member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly from Hisar constituency.
