May 13, 2024: Metro and local train services in Mumbai were severely impacted today as the city experienced heavy rainfall coupled with a massive dust storm around 3 pm on Monday. The sudden onset of adverse weather conditions caught many commuters off guard, leading to widespread delays and cancellations across transportation networks.



The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Mumbai issued a nowcast warning,predicting a thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and moderate to intense spells of rain for Thane, Palghar, and Mumbai. According to the IMD, Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and light to moderate spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mumbai during next 3-4 hours. Take precautions while moving out.



The combination of heavy rainfall and strong winds not only disrupted transportation but also posed risks to public safety. Authorities urged residents to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel during the inclement weather conditions.
