IAF to Display Aerial Might with Rafale, Su-30MKI at Republic Day Parade

January 16, 2025: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to display its formidable strength with a stunning aerial demonstration during this year's Republic Day celebrations. A total of 40 aircraft, including the latest Rafale fighter jets, will take part in the flypast, promising an unforgettable spectacle over the skies of New Delhi, the IAF confirmed in a statement.

This year’s aerial display will feature an impressive array of 22 fighter jets, 11 transport aircraft, and 7 helicopters, with iconic aircraft like the Rafale, Su-30 MKI, and C-130J Hercules forming awe-inspiring formations in the skies. The IAF has emphasized that the flypast will be divided into two blocks, with Block 2 showcasing intricate formations and precision maneuvers, to be held after the parade, as per Wing Commander Manish Sharma's statement to India Today TV.

However, some notable aircraft will be missing from the event. The indigenously developed Advance Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv, which is currently grounded following a crash in Gujarat, will not participate in the flypast. Additionally, the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft, despite its exceptional performance, will be excluded due to its single-engine configuration, which is not typically preferred for the Republic Day display, although it has flown over the parade in previous years.

The Republic Day festivities will commence at the National War Memorial, followed by the ceremonial march of the IAF contingent, comprising 4 officers and 144 personnel. The IAF band, made up of 72 musicians, will accompany the march, performing stirring tunes such as Astronaut, Vayu Shakti, Nidar Yodha, and Northern Border, all designed to reflect the bravery and valor of the Air Force.

The marching contingent, comprising warriors who have undergone rigorous training since early morning, will demonstrate the disciplined excellence of the Indian Air Force, setting the stage for an awe-inspiring display of aerial might.
