The Central Government will likely bring proposal to rename India as Bharat in Parliament’s special session

September 5, 2023: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government will likely bring a proposal to rename India as Bharat in Parliament’s special session. The session will be held from September 18-22.

The development comes after G20 Summit 2023 dinner invitations (September 9) from the Indian President Droupadi Murmu which were sent under the name of 'President of Bharat' instead of 'President of India'.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also supported the centre’s decision to rename the country.

Taking to X, Assam CM said, “REPUBLIC OF BHARAT - happy and proud that our civilisation is marching ahead boldly towards AMRIT KAAL”.

Many leaders are also seen supporting the centre’s decision.
