April 15, 2024: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has seized Rs 4,650 crore ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The seized money is "higher than the total seizures" in the 2019 polls.

The Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1. The results are expected to be announced on June 4.

As per sources, the Enforcement Agencies have made a record seizure of over Rs. 4650 crores in ECI’s resolute fight against money power even before the first phase of polling for the 18th Lok Sabha elections commences on Friday. This marks a sharp increase over Rs 3475 crores seized during the entire Lok Sabha election 2019.
