ED Conducts Raids in Five States Amid Diljit Dosanjh and Coldplay Fake Ticket Sales

October 26, 2024: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has launched a comprehensive operation targeting unauthorized ticket sales for upcoming concerts by renowned artists Diljit Dosanjh and Coldplay. Raids are currently underway in five states: Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Bangalore, in response to multiple FIRs concerning fraudulent ticket sales for these highly anticipated shows.

The investigation specifically addresses the illegal ticket sales for Dosanjh’s "Dilluminati" tour, which kicks off today in the Delhi NCR region, and Coldplay’s "Music of the Spheres World Tour," scheduled for January 18 and 19, 2025, at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium.

Official tickets sold through platforms such as Bookmyshow and Zomato Live sold out quickly, prompting a surge in black-market activity. Fraudulent sellers have been leveraging social media platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram to offer counterfeit or overpriced tickets, exploiting eager concertgoers.

In response to these illegal sales, Bookmyshow has filed complaints against individuals involved in this scam, citing the exploitation of fans through inflated prices and fake tickets. "Searches and investigations by the ED have uncovered individuals selling unauthorised and fake tickets on social media platforms," an ED official stated.

To address these violations, the ED has invoked the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, and is conducting searches at 13 locations within the targeted states. These operations have resulted in the seizure of incriminating materials, including mobile phones, laptops, and SIM cards linked to the scam.
