Ayodhya Prepares for a Dazzling Diwali: 28 Lakh Diyas to Illuminate Ram Temple in Eco-Friendly Celebration

October 28, 2024: The Yogi Adityanath government is poised to host its eighth Deepotsav in Ayodhya, with ambitious plans to celebrate this Diwali at the newly constructed Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple. This year’s festivities aim to set a new world record by illuminating the banks of the Saryu river with an impressive 28 lakh diyas (lamps), accompanied by special eco-friendly lamps adorning the temple itself.

In a statement, the Uttar Pradesh government highlighted its commitment to environmental sustainability, emphasizing the use of innovative lamps designed to minimize soot and stain damage to the temple structure. These special wax lamps will also help reduce carbon emissions during the celebrations.

The Ram temple complex will feature stunning floral decorations, organized into various sections, each with designated teams responsible for specific aspects of the decoration. Ashu Shukla, a retired Inspector General from the Bihar cadre, will oversee the lighting, entrance arch decorations, and overall cleanliness of the area.

The temple trust envisions Ayodhya not only as a spiritual center this Diwali but also as a beacon of cleanliness and environmental awareness. To facilitate this vision, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra has extended its hours for 'Bhavan Darshan' from October 29 to November 1, allowing visitors to experience the temple's grandeur until midnight. Access for the public will be available through Gate No. 4B, where guests can admire the breathtaking decorations.

The festival of lights promises to encapsulate themes of faith, environmental stewardship, and beauty, positioning Ayodhya’s Deepawali as a global spectacle. With preparations nearing completion, Professor Pratibha Goyal, Vice Chancellor of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, has mobilized a dedicated team to ensure the event’s success.
