AAP Rages as President Moves to Act on BJP’s Demand for Delhi Government Dismissal

September 10, 2024: A political firestorm has erupted following President Droupadi Murmu's decision to forward a memorandum from BJP MLAs to the Ministry of Home Affairs, requesting the dismissal of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi.

The BJP’s memorandum, which cites a "constitutional crisis" due to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's imprisonment and subsequent administrative delays, argues that these issues warrant the removal of the AAP administration. The party asserts that the move is necessary to restore effective governance.

In response, AAP leaders sharply criticised the BJP. Cabinet Minister Atishi accused the BJP of trying to remove the Kejriwal government through backdoor channels. She alleged it was all a conspiracy by the saffron party to avert certain defeat in next year’s Assembly election.

"BJP has already accepted defeat in the upcoming Delhi elections. BJP's only job is to topple the elected government. BJP is afraid of CM Kejriwal," Atishi said, adding, "This is BJP's new conspiracy. BJP will get zero seats in Delhi elections."

AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also lashed out at the BJP, declaring that his party is prepared for the elections.
