Triptii Dimri is a living example of how a single film can change the course of one’s career in the competitive Bollywood industry

OCTOBER 4, 2024- How Triptii Dimri Transformed From a Struggling Actress to Bollywood’s Rising Star After Animal, Triptii Dimri is a living example of how a single film can change the course of one’s career in the competitive Bollywood industry. The actress, who started her career with a minor role in the Sridevi-starrer Mom, is now one of the top choices for many filmmakers. Despite putting up solid performances in unconventional films like Laila Majnu, Qala, and Bulbbul, the spotlight evaded her for nearly six years until the release of Animal in 2023, which changed everything.

In Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Triptii played a brief but pivotal role as Zoya Riaz, opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Her character, referred to as ‘Bhabhi 2’, was a significant plot point in the narrative. Although it was a relatively small part, her portrayal was impactful enough to leave a lasting impression on audiences and industry insiders. Animal went on to become the third highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2023, and the buzz around Triptii grew stronger. The film catapulted her into the limelight, marking a major breakthrough in her career.

Triptii’s journey to this point wasn’t easy. As per industry records, she began as an extra in Mom (2017), directed by Ravi Udyawar. Even though the film was a commercial success, her role didn’t garner much attention. She went back to audition lines until she landed her first significant role in Poster Boys the directorial debut of actor Shreyas Talpade. Co-starring Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, the film failed at the box office, and Triptii’s lack of screen presence at the time didn’t help her case.

Reflecting on her initial struggles, Triptii shared with The Hollywood Reporter India that the failure of Poster Boys was a wake-up call. I didn’t have the acting skills back then, she admitted. Determined to improve, she took a step back, honed her craft, and made a memorable comeback in films like Bulbbul and Qala, produced by Anushka Sharma’s production house.

Today, Triptii Dimri is riding high on the success of Animal and has become a “lucky charm” for producers. With a promising slate of upcoming projects, including Dhadak 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, she is poised to become one of Bollywood’s most sought-after actresses.
