Choreographer Remo D'Souza and Six Others Accused of Defrauding Dance Troupe of ₹11.96 Crore

October 19, 2024: Renowned choreographer Remo D'Souza, along with his wife Lizelle and five others, has been accused of defrauding a dance troupe of ₹11.96 crore. The case was registered on October 16 at the Mira Road police station following a complaint from a 26-year-old dancer.

According to police officials, the allegations stem from incidents occurring between 2018 and July 2024. The dancer claims that after their troupe's success on a popular television show, the accused misrepresented themselves as the rightful owners of the group and subsequently claimed the prize money.

The FIR includes charges under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including forgery (Section 465) and cheating (Section 420). The other individuals named in the complaint include Omprakash Shankar Chouhan, Rohit Jadhav, and Vinod Raut, alongside a policeman, and Ramesh Gupta.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter, as the dance community awaits further developments in this high-profile case.
