August 27, 2024: The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) organized an exclusive Members Meet & Interaction event on August 26, 2024, at Novotel, Guwahati, featuring ICC President Mr. Ameya Prabhu. The event, coordinated by Mr. Ishantor Sobhapandit, Regional Director - NER, ICC, brought together leading business figures and members from across Assam and the North-East region.



The gathering provided a strategic platform for dialogue on advancing industrial commerce and economic growth in the North-East.



Mr. Sarat Kumar Jain, Chairman of the ICC Assam & Meghalaya State Council, emphasized the significance of collaboration in driving regional economic progress. Mr. Jain outlined upcoming ICC initiatives, including sessions on family businesses, international exchange programs, and a major conference on infrastructure and digital development. He expressed appreciation for Mr. Prabhu’s leadership and reaffirmed ICC’s commitment to supporting business growth in the region.



Mr. Mahesh Kr. Saharia, Chairperson of the ICC North East Council, reflected on the Chamber’s journey from a regional body to a national and international presence, with a specific focus on its Northeast initiatives over the past 25 years. He also highlighted ICC’s contributions to improving regional connectivity and revitalizing activities under Mr. Jain’s leadership. Mr. Saharia urged greater attention from ICC’s central office toward the Northeast and called for continuous engagement to understand local challenges better.



In his address, ICC President Mr. Ameya Prabhu shared his vision for the North-East, reaffirming ICC’s dedication to advocacy, networking, and business support. Mr. Prabhu proudly announced the Chamber’s upcoming centenary celebrations and highlighted recent milestones, such as the signing of an MoU with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.



Dr. Rajeev Singh, Director General of ICC, delivered the vote of thanks, highlighting important takeaways, such as the need for local VFS offices and enhanced export market access. He also mentioned ICC’s upcoming initiatives, including a wine buyer-seller meet in Delhi and startup support programs tailored for the North-East.
