October 6, 2021: The noose around Rajkanya Baruah seems to be tightening. Police has booked Rajkanya Baruah under Section 308 of IPC for attempt to commit culpable homicide. The punishment under this section is jail upto 7 years or fine or both. Rajkanya was involved in the car accident that left 9 people seriously injured. The police are re-investigating the case after Rajkanya, a Femina Miss India finalist managed to get bail within 24 hours of the accident that took place at around 1.45 AM on October 2 night.

There was massive outrage after the police granted bail to 29 year old Rajkanya, resident of Beltola Survey in Guwahati.

The wedding planner and former model was driving when night curfew was in force. She first hit a vehicle before ploughing into the people, all PWD labourers who were working on improving the road. One person lost both his legs in the accident and the others are still undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, the 6-member medical board set up to look into the medical health status of Rajkanya, has conducted an hour long examination into different aspects of Rajkanya’s health. Rajkanya’s fate now depends on the report of this medical board. The board would submit its report to Dr Abhijit Sarma, Superintendent of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). DCP Shubhrajit Bora was present during the medical examination by the board.

Rajkanya is admitted in ICU of a Guwahati hospital.
