June 2, 2023: In a recent development, four more persons who are suspected to be involved in the Rs 105-Crore State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) scam in Assam was asked to appear before the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance office in Guwahati for their interrogation on Friday.



The four persons have been identified as Manoj Das, Pradeep Baruah, Bidyut Kalita and Keshab Gogoi.



Reportedly, Sonmani Nath who is a District Institute for Education and Training (DIET) employee in Howly has also been arrested. He is accused in blackmailing and extorting money from Sewali Devi Sharma.

Earlier, Sewali Devi, who is the prime suspect of the scam had confessed to the Vigilance Cell that she had been blackmailed by some of the journalists and RTI activists. They threatened to expose her for the involvement in the scam.



On the other hand, Banjit Mali who is also allegedly involved in the scam is on the run. He is a resident of Kahikuchi area in Azara.



Puja Das, Bhaskar Hazarika, Anup Saikia and Rabijit Gogoi who were arrested in the connection to the scam will be produce before the court on Friday.
