November 16, 2023: In a major development, the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) to get merged together and will come up with one single board. The new board will be called as Assam State School Education Board.

The new decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held in Guwahati, Assam on Thursday. The SEBA was formed in the year 1962 and the AHSEC in 1984.

The Cabinet also informed that the budget session will be held in February.
