November 30, 2021: Prime accused of Animesh Bhuyan mob lynching case has been arrested by Police on Tuesday.



Niraz Das who was absconding was arrested by Jorhat Police today.



As per reports, Das was hiding in Jorhat’s Borigaon. The police have arrested 13 persons so far in connection to the mob lynching.



Animesh Bhuyan, a leader of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) was killed and two others, including a journalist, were injured in Jorhat today in an attack, carried out by a mob of over 50 people on November 29.

The incident reportedly took place after a man was injured in a road accident.



The deceased namely Animesh Bhuyan, who hails from Dergaon from neighboring district Golaghat, had visited Jorhat for some purchase in the market but unfortunately, he and his friends became a victim of misunderstanding as the mob gathered to assist the accident victim.



According to reports, Bhuyan was in no way involved in the accident but the mob failed to understand this and attacked him and others.



The three injured were later rushed to a hospital but the doctors there declared Bhuyan dead on arrival.
