March 25, 2024: Gaurav Gogoi, the Assam Congress leader, will be contesting from the Jorhat constituency in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

In Jorhat, Gaurav Gogoi will be contesting against BJP candidate Topon Kumar Gogoi, who defeated Congress candidate Sushanta Borgohain by over 80,000 votes in 2019.

During an interview, Salman Khan, the Chairman APCC Minority Department, has said, “Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Jorhat, Gaurav Gogoi, will win with a big margin.”

He also added, “On the contrary to BJP's claim that Gaurav Gogoi will lose the election, he will be victorious. After travelling and interacting with voters of Lok Sabha constituency we came to know that Gaurav Gogoi will win with a thumping majority of votes”.

Gaurav Gogoi, the son of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, is a close aide of Rahul Gandhi. He kicked off his election campaign for the Jorhat Lok Sabha seat.
