Fake Doctor Arrested in Chabua for Attempting to Join Nadua Tea Estate; Rs 1.5 Lakh Paid in Fraudulent Job Scheme

November 8, 2024: A man posing as a medical professional was arrested by Chabua police for allegedly attempting to join Nadua Tea Estate as a medical officer. The accused, identified as Raju Hatikakati, was apprehended while en route to the estate. He is suspected of fraudulently presenting himself as a doctor to secure a job at the estate.

Hatikakati, who hails from Nazira in Sivasagar, was reportedly in communication with Dr. Siddharth Das, a medical officer from Nadua Tea Estate. According to Hatikakati's statement to the media, Dr. Das had offered him the position for a hefty sum of Rs 5 lakh, of which Rs 1.5 lakh had already been paid as part of the arrangement.

The suspect was detained by Dikom police and subsequently handed over to the Chabua police for further interrogation. Authorities are investigating the case, which has raised concerns about fraudulent practices in the medical field.

This is not the first time Hatikakati has faced charges of impersonating a doctor. In 2021, he was arrested in Nagaon district for similar offenses at Chalna Tea Estate. Despite being previously apprehended, it appears that the suspect attempted to continue his illegal activities in Chabua.

The victim in this case, Raju Hatikakati, was allegedly misled into believing Hatikakati’s credentials and the legitimacy of the job offer.

Chabua police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as the case develops.
