March 5, 2023: A bird survey was conducted by Aaranyak, the premier research-based biodiversity conservation organisation, at the Doloni Beel in  Bongaigaon, Assam.



The survey was conducted in association with the Botany and Zoology Departments of Abhayapuri College and the Aie Valley Forest Division.



As per survey, 47 species of wetland birds including 1,847 individual birds were recorded by the team.

Some of the species which recorded are: Red-crested Pochard, Ferrugeneous Pochard, Tufted Duck, Gadwall, Eurasian Wigeon, Fulvous Whistling Teal, Lesser Adjutant Stork etc.



The programme was carried out as part of an ongoing study on the Doloni Beel by Aaranyak.
