January 9, 2024: The Budget Session for the financial year 2023-24 of Assam Legislative Assembly will begin on February 5, 2024. The session will continue till February 28.

Assam Legislative Assembly secretariat made this announcement following directives of state Governor Gulab chandra Kataria. The secretariat has issued a notification informing that the state governor has ordered to begin the budget session from 5th February (9.30am) onwards in Assembly chamber in Dispur, Guwahati.

 The Finance Minister of Assam who is responsible to present the budget session of each year will also be representing the budget session of 2023-24 fiscal year.

This year budget session is much interesting as the government of Assam introduces Green budget 2023-24, placing Assam as the first state of North-East India and second in the nation to hold such initiative. It is expected that the session will identify various expenditure, revenue expenditure, capital output and loans given by the state.
