January 23, 2024: The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was stopped by Assam Police from entering the city roads of Guwahati on Tuesday.



Almost 5000 Congress workers gathered together for the Yatra. The rally was denied by the state administration arguing it is a working day following which it may create chaos of traffic in the city. The administration ordered to carry out the rally on the NH-27 route which moves towards the lower Assam.



After being stopped by the police, the workers broke the barricades to move forward and raised slogans.



Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted in twitter about Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Taking to Twitter, he said, “These are not part of Assamese culture. We are a peaceful state. Such “naxalite tactics” are completely alien to our culture. I have instructed @DGPAssamPolice to register a case against your leader @RahulGandhi for provoking the crowd & use the footage you have posted on your handles as evidence."
