May 29, 2023: A tragic road accident took place at Jalukbari in Guwahati, Assam on Sunday night where at least seven students were killed and several others got injured after a speeding Scorpio vehicle collided with a Bolero Pickup van.



Reportedly, the accident took place after the person who was driving the scorpio car lost control and crossed over the divider and crashed into the parked Pickup Van at around 1 AM near the DCP West Office.





The deceased have been identified as Arindam  Bhallal, Rajkiran Bhuyan, Niyar Deka, Kaushik Baruah, Emon Gayan, Kaushik Mohan and Upangshu Sarma. All the deceased were the students of Assam Engineering College (AEC).

According to a report, around ten students were travelling in the Scorpio car and they rented the vehicle. However, the other three students identified as Arpan Bhuyan, Arnab Chakraborty and Mrinmoy Borah were injured and taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for their treatment.



On the other hand, the three persons in the DI vehicle identified as Muzammil Haque, Yusuf Ali and Rajib Ali were also immediately taken to GMCH.



Taking to Twitter, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed, "Extremely anguished by the loss of young and precious lives in the road accident at Jalukbari."
