November 17, 2021: Assam Chief Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the house of Assam Rifles martyr Suman Swargiary and paid tribute to the soldier who lost his life in an ambush in Manipur on November 13.



CM Sarma handed over the Rs 50 lakh compensation and spent time with the martyr’s wife Juri Swargiary, 3 year old son Barad and other family members. Suman’s father was also gunned down by extremists. Swargiary was a resident of Baksa.

The Chief Minister also said that the road leading to Swargiary’s home would be named after him as demanded by the locals of the area. They also have said that a stadium should be built in the school that Suman Swargiary went to. CM Sarma said that the state government would extend financial support for the construction of the stadium.
