May 31, 2023: Protests were staged by the alleged illegally recruited employees of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) at the office in Paltan Bazaar, Guwahati after their removal from their jobs on Wednesday.

According to some reports, a total of 2,274 employees were recruited without following the procedure and around 771 employees have been removed from their jobs.

Reportedly, a huge crowd gathered together to protest, raise slogans and asked questions about the unexpected removal.

The announcement that ASTC will remove illegally recruited employees came a day earlier.
