May 8, 2022: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal is likely to visit Assam on May 29.

He is expected to take part in a road show. The visit is aimed at strengthening the base of the party in Assam as the Delhi-based party tries to replace Congress as the main opposition in India.

AAP has won one ward in the recently held Guwahati Municipal Corporation elections.

The party has won the Punjab Assembly elections by a massive margin and is working towards strengthening its base in Goa, Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh among other states.

AAP came to prominence in 2015 when it won Delhi Assembly elections by beating both BJP at a time when it had won the General elections by a clean majority and the Congress who had ruled Delhi for 15 years in a row (Shiela Dikshit government).
