Mahindra Kurmi, the Dibrugarh district secretary, Assam Tea Tribes Students' Association (ATTSA) said that the incident happened due to the negligence of the garden management. The woman injured herself by entering into CTC machine. The garden management is responsible for the incident because of how the management gave her permission to work at the dryer machine".

"We demand a high-level inquiry into the incident. The garden management advocates on safety first, but there is no safety in the tea factory. The labour department has failed miserably to check the safety measures. We hold the manager responsible for the incident," he added.
