Russian President Vladimir Putin to Visit India in Early 2025, Dates Awaited

November 19, 2024: Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to visit India in early 2025, according to an announcement by the Kremlin. The dates for the highly anticipated visit are still under discussion, with Moscow and New Delhi working closely to finalize the details.

The visit, which is expected to take place in the first quarter of next year, will be part of a longstanding tradition between the two countries to conduct reciprocal annual visits by their respective leaders. While the specific agenda of President Putin's trip has not been disclosed, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that both nations are coordinating on the timing.

"We are looking forward to the visit. The dates will be mutually worked out soon," Peskov said.

During his trip, President Putin is expected to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. The two leaders had last met in late October 2024 during the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia. It was during this meeting that PM Modi extended a formal invitation to President Putin to visit India, underscoring the growing bilateral ties between the two nations.

In their last exchange, PM Modi expressed India's long-standing position on global conflicts, notably the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Modi reiterated India's belief in dialogue and peaceful resolutions to conflicts, emphasizing that New Delhi is committed to supporting efforts that lead to peace. "We have been in touch with all sides in the Russia-Ukraine problem. It has always been our position that all conflict can be solved with dialogue. We believe there should be peaceful solutions to conflicts. India is always ready to help bring peace," Modi had said.

The upcoming visit of President Putin is expected to further deepen the strategic partnership between Russia and India, which has remained strong across various sectors, including defense, energy, and technology.
