September 5, 2024: On Wednesday, in a high school shooting in Georgia at least four people were killed and nine others were injured. The incident occurred near the town of Winder, about 45 miles northeast of Atlanta. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed the casualty numbers and state that the suspect is in custody and alive.

Parents received a message from school authorities about a “hard lockdown after reports of gunfire.” Once the all-clear was given, parents were invited to reunite with their children. Long lines of vehicles were seen outside the school, indicating the scale of the lockdown and subsequent reunification process.

US President Joe Biden expressed his sorrow over the incident.
