January 18, 2025: India has announced their squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy, with Rohit Sharma set to lead the team once again. The announcement came after much deliberation on Saturday, with BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar revealing the squad from the headquarters in Mumbai.
The team largely comprises players who participated in the 2023 ODI World Cup, retaining their spots for the prestigious tournament. Shubman Gill will serve as Rohit's deputy, while the squad features a few fresh faces, including Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, and the much-anticipated inclusion of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has earned his maiden call-up to the Indian ODI squad.
Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul are expected to take on the roles of wicket-keepers for the team during the competition. As for the spin department, India has included Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel, along with Washington Sundar. Kuldeep, who had been recovering from an injury sustained before the Australia tour, has regained full fitness and secured his place in the squad.
A significant change in the lineup is the exclusion of Mohammed Siraj, who has been replaced by the young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh.
