Assam Governor Declares Public Holiday on 13th November 2024 for Bye-Election

November 6, 2024: The Governor of Assam has declared a public holiday on 13th November 2024 (Wednesday) in view of the bye-election being held in certain Assembly Constituencies across the state. As per the announcement, all government and non-government offices, educational institutions, and businesses within the following constituencies will remain closed:




  • Dholai (SC) Assembly Constituency

  • Sidli (ST) Assembly Constituency

  • Bongaigaon Assembly Constituency

  • Behali Assembly Constituency

  • Samaguri Assembly Constituency



The holiday is being declared under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, in the interest of public service and to facilitate smooth conduct of the election process in these constituencies.



Voters in these areas are encouraged to participate in the election, and authorities have advised citizens to ensure their voter identification documents are in order ahead of the election date.



All offices and businesses outside the affected constituencies will operate as usual on the 13th of November.
