July 23, 2021: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Meghalaya and Assam on July 24 and 25 respectively. The Home Minister will inaugurate several important projects in both the states. He will also have a meeting with the Chief Ministers of Northeast.

During his day and a half long stay in Shillong, the Home Minister will inaugurate the North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC) Multipurpose Conference Centre and Exhibition facility, the inter-state bus terminal at Mawiong and the Cryogenic Oxygen plant and pediatric ward at Umsawli. On July 25 morning, Shah will participate in a tree plantation drive organised by Assam Rifles at Vahsharee. After this Shah will pay tribute to Swami Vivekananda at his statue at R K Mission in Sohra and then inaugurate the Greater Sohra Water Supply Scheme at Sohra.

Meanwhile, ahead of Home Minister Shah’s visit to Shillong, civil society organisations like the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisations (CoMSO) met state Health Minister and BJP MLA AL Hek and urged him to raise the issues of implementing Inner Line Permit (ILP), resolving interstate border dispute, including Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution and Amending the Sixth Schedule.

CoMSO chairman, Robertjune Kharjahrin has sought an appointment with Home Minister Shah during his Shillong visit.

The Home Minister will be reaching Guwahati by afternoon of July 25. In Guwahati he would inaugurate the radio therapy block and new LINAC machine at State Cancer Institute, GMCH, Guwahati. He would also hand over cheques of Rs one lakh each to family members of COVID victims.

The Home Minister will lay the foundation stone of Tamulpur Medical College before leaving for New Delhi.
