West Tripura MP Sushri Pratima Bhowmick sworn in as Union Minister in Modi’s Cabinet

July 7, 2021: West Tripura MP Pratima Bhowmick, 52, sworn in as Union Minister in Modi’s Cabinet on Wednesday.



She is the first lady to serve as union minister from Tripura.





Bhowmick is a Lok Sabha MP for Tripura West in Tripura, serving her 1st term as MP.



Taking to Twitter, Biplab Kumar Deb, CM of Tripura informed, “A moment of immense pride for #Tripura that  @PratimaBhoumik ji, a foremost representative of #NariShakti of the state, has joined PM Shri @narendramodi led Union Council of Ministers.



I extend my heartiest wishes and pray to Ma Tripursundari for her success as a Union Minister.”





Bhowmick comes from a humble background, practices farming and holds a Graduate degree in Bio-Science from Women's College, Tripura University.
