October 1, 2024: In a shocking turn of events, a 30-year-old delivery man for Flipkart was murdered while delivering an iPhone in Lucknow. The victim, Bharat Sahu, was reported missing on September 25, two days after he failed to return home following the delivery attempt on September 23.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Singh provided details of the incident, confirming that Sahu was attacked by two individuals, identified as Gajanan and his accomplice, during the delivery. It is alleged that they strangled Sahu before placing his body in a sack and disposing of it in the Indira Canal.
According to police reports, Gajanan had ordered an Apple iPhone valued at Rs. 1.5 lakh from Flipkart with a cash-on-delivery option. The motive behind the murder is currently under investigation, but it appears to be linked to the transaction gone awry.
Sahu’s family became alarmed when he did not return home for two consecutive days and subsequently filed a missing persons report at the Chinhat police station.
The tragic case highlights the dangers faced by delivery personnel in an increasingly digital shopping environment.
