September 28, 2024: A fierce gunbattle erupted in the Adigam village of Kulgam district today, resulting in injuries to three Army personnel and one police officer. The encounter, which began during a security operation aimed at neutralizing terrorist threats, is ongoing, with two terrorists reported to be trapped in the area.



The clash commenced when security forces, acting on credible intelligence regarding terrorist activity, initiated a house-to-house search. As they proceeded with the operation, the terrorists opened fire, leading to a swift retaliatory response from the security personnel.



The Kashmir Police Zone confirmed the situation on social media, stating, “Encounter has started at Adigam Devsar area of Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”



In a related update, the Indian Army's Chinar Corps reported the joint operation launched in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police. They stated, “Based on specific intelligence input, a Joint Operation was launched by Indian Army and J&K Police today at Arigam, Kulgam. During search, terrorists fired indiscriminately and a firefight has ensued. Operation is in progress.”
