Rahul Gandhi Addresses Unexpected Haryana Loss, Cites Irregularities in Vote Counting

October 9, 2024: In the wake of a surprising defeat in the Haryana Assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has expressed his concerns about the party's performance and the integrity of the electoral process. Following the announcement of results, which saw the BJP securing 48 out of 90 seats, Gandhi emphasized the need for an in-depth analysis of what he termed an "unexpected" outcome.

In a tweet, Gandhi acknowledged the support of the people of Haryana and the hard work of party workers, stating, "We are analysing the unexpected result of Haryana. We will inform the Election Commission about the complaints coming from many Assembly constituencies." He indicated that the party had received numerous reports of irregularities in the vote counting process and pledged to address these discrepancies.

Despite the Congress's initial advantages, the BJP's significant win marks its best performance in the state since its formation in 1966. The Congress managed to secure only 37 seats, falling short of capitalizing on the prevailing anti-incumbency sentiments against the BJP.

In a broader context, Gandhi also celebrated the National Conference-Congress coalition's success in Jammu and Kashmir, calling it a victory for the Constitution. As the Congress navigates its post-election strategy, party leaders are expected to meet to assess the situation and formulate a response to the challenges ahead.
